@Saurabh: I’m not the first person who didn’t like it. I was the second. My wife was the first. After reading about the life changing effects the movie has had on people on the internet, I was looking forward to the movie as something of a moving-pictures’ version of Swami Ramdev meets the Alchemist. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. And am I the only one who didnt like the woman playing Rachel Dawes? Seriously, whats with these non-beauty parades in superhero movies? Gwyneth Paltrow looking all weird and under-used as Pepper Pots in Ironman, and let’s not even start with Mary Jane in ANY Spiderman movie. And lets NOT EVEN think about that spider man dance in part 3, where he suddenly turns into a lesbian. Umm… so yeah, I was a little underwhelmed by D.K.
@Hades: Yup! Not better than Godfather. It couldn’t have been….
Well, yes it could’ve been but it wasn’t. I wonder if the studios hired out an army to rate it up. Or maybe they have an understanding with IMDB… BTW, how is it we dont have an interview with the Dark Knight on your, shall we say, News Site?
Probably it’s not better than Godfather. Probably it’s just that The Dark Knight has been released at a time when IMDB is popular and more people are (over)zealously voting for The Dark Knight as compared to The Godfather.
@Saurabh: Yup! That’s the reason. Popular new movies always go high up on that list. Then over time they come down. It’s already at #3 now. But my wife is still mad at me because I made her sit through it.
That’s ’cause Batman is a fictional character, dude. He isn’t real. How can I interview someone who doesn’t exist? Sheesh, you geeky Batman/Superman/Mithun fans!
And I totally agree with your point of ugly women in superhero movies. Brilliant observation.
and i was saying the same thing, i swear!! heath’s popping off was the best thing that could’ve happened to this watsisname batman. finally got some attention! and it was darth vader’s voice….!!
@garam: You’re not suggesting the studio had anything to do with it… ?
Hmm.. Darth Vader… thank God it wasn’t Jar Jar. But yeah, I used to like the old school batman on TV. You know, the one with a paunch and a bat-costume that looked like he got Robin to stitch it from leftovers… and he a regular voice. All Batmen had regular voice. Did this one install a speech modulator in his throat? Or did he have a Ventriloquism fetish, underneath all that leather.
no no, not the studio. I meant watsisname. I mean christian bale. I like his bike though. and the batman girl and the mary jane girl resemble each other very much(at least to me they do)!! *shrug*
Well, yes. Godfather sequels weren’t that great. And the Star Wars Prequels weren’t great either. But hey, Godfather 1 was a good movie, wasn’t it? I mean, come on… every actor does the thing perfectly, every shot is well thought of and perfect.. Everything. Just Perfect.
On the other hand, Godfather 3 was shit, and the star wars prequels made my eyes bleed.
Talking of sequels, I wish they’d stop making any more Spider Men, and I really REALLY REALLY hope Eddy Murphy retires. NOW.
I do think it was a bit too long, but calling it over-hyped will be too cruel to the movie.Sure the fanbois are a bunch of crap , but the fact is that if you go to a movie with a huge expectation you are probably gonna feel like this most of the time. The movie is just worth seeing for Heath’s performance , he was really scary with the Knife !!.
@Manu: Yeah, the over expectation killed the experience. I found it only slightly better than Batman Begins. And yes, Heath’s performance was the only reason for watching the movie. I wish there was more. But they could’ve taken out that 2 boats sub-plot, it was quite useless and preachy, and un-needed.
i completely agree with you. in fact, i thought heath ledger over acted in this one. some time during my late twenties the meaning of “good acting” changed to “over acting” and i did not notice till that definition was solidly entrenched in the minds of all society. consequently i have begun to be labeled as “highbrow”.
i’ll feel sad if ledger wins an oscar for this one. it’ll be akin to giving scorsese the oscar for “the departed”.
@Swati: I know what you mean. Personally I’d give the oscar to Heath, if only because no one great movies came out this year which deserve the Best Actor award.
hey… i liked the movie “the dark knight”… joker was awesome!! might not deserve an oscar, but not too many movies out there which keep you glued to your seat..
p.s. the last lines were AMAZING!! (the ones about what the city deserves/needs)
i loved the movie but am ver dissapointed wen u say that its a hyped up project and talking about the comic part of it its also preety good nt as goos as the movie bt comes quiet close …
I really Miss the Magic of Tim Burton’s versions of Batman, the biggest problem with Chris Nolan’s versions are the central character is not balanced and is towards a weaker side. Though it is v near to the Frank Miller’s Dark Knight series, I still think Batman and Batman Returns are the best Batman Movies made till date, maybe Tim Burton should do it again . Though both Batman begins and The Dark Knight are much much better than Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin and Batman Forever, where harvey dent was more a comedian than a villian.
Hilarious. You guys need to check out christian bale going crazy on youtube..Says the F word like 50 times…

Have you passed through a room, and it was more like the room passed around you? Like there was leash around your neck that pulled u through 3 days ago
Dude, seriously – you’re the first person who didn’t like The Dark Knight. Correction, you’re the first person who thinks it was overrated.
Hmm…while I really liked the movie but even I’d agree with saad when he says that its a tad over-hyped. I mean better than the Godfather; now come on!

The only movies more over-hyped than The Dark Knight has to be The Godfather and Starwars, in all their over-sequel-ed glory .
@Val: OMG! What have you done!!

@Saad: .. and Sylvester Stallone too.

The magic trick was great!
A cool sketch on Break.com regarding the Bat-Growl.

the movie is well executed and so will be the dvd release nw thats a question ??/
haha this is brilliant.
I mean the references to Ledgers death are a bit harsh like but still, i found the movie pretty rubbish really.
im sure u did but its individual choise isnt it ??
Aww shucks. Slumdog Millionaire qualifies for this comic moar than the Dark Knight.
